Our History
Security State Bank (SSB) is one of the oldest banks in Iowa. On July 1, 1884 the Bank of Radcliffe was the first Bank to be established in Radcliffe, Iowa. In 1914, the bank was incorporated and the name was changed to Security State Bank. We are proud to be celebrating over 135 years of community service to the Hardin, Hamilton, and Story County areas.
In 2004, we opened a branch office in Story City, Iowa, thus expanding our market area to meet the needs of our customers.
In 2014, Security State Bank of Radcliffe finalized the purchase of Security State Bank of Hubbard, which also had an existing branch location in Zearing, Iowa.
Today, we are proud to serve thousands of customers in and around the communities in which we are located. SSB has been a family-owned community bank since 1884 and we view all of our customers and staff as extensions of that family. Our bank owners and staff take great pride in serving our neighbors, friends, and families as we live in those communities alongside our customers.
Through combining our traditional small-town banking experience with the latest technology, we will continue to provide our customers with excellence in service to meet their financial needs as a friendly, local community bank with the big bank products and services for many years to come.
